The International Neustadt Prize was conferred in 1998 to Somali author Nuruddin Farah by a jury of writers from all over the world. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Octavio Paz, and Czeslaw Milosz have been among the recipients, altogether fifteen of them, eleven of whom were later awarded the Nobel.
