  • Unveiling Neolithic Economic Behavior

    Open Access•Maria Brandl, Maria M Martinez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Method…•2024•Referencias: 15

The expansion of the Neolithic way of life triggered the most profound changes in peoples’ socioeconomic behaviors, including how critical resources for everyday life were managed. Recent research spearheaded by ancient DNA analysis has greatly contributed to our understanding of the main direction of Neolithisation spreading from western Anatolia into central Europe. Due to the diverse processes involved in Neolithisation, which resulted in a hi…

  • Kalba

    Open Access•Maria Brandl, Michael Brandl•ARTICLE•Archaeologia Austriaca•2015•Citada por: 11•Referencias: 1

Raw material determination of prehistoric stone tools is a necessary analytical process towards a fuller understanding of prehistoric resource management. However, archaeologists face a terminological predicament when analysing raw material types present within lithic assemblages. This is chiefly due to the lack of a commonly accepted classification system, further exacerbated when working on an international scale. The principle reason for this …

  • Adaptation or disintegration? Changes in the kulama initiation and increase ritual of Melville and Bathurst Islands, Northern Territory of Australia

    Maria Brandl•ARTICLE•Anthropological Forum•1970•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 2

During a period of almost sixty yean from 1912–1969 there have been several observers of this ritual. In this paper Spencer's account of a kulama in 1912 is examined in detail to determine the nature of the ritual activities, for which a model of sacrifice is suggested. The modifications recorded in later accounts are then considered against this background. Although the more recent rituals lack the coherency of that of 1912, the kulama persists …
