The phenomenon of medieval “easter eggs”
The paper is devoted to such type of artifacts as “Easter eggs”, also known in the scientific literature as egg-shaped rattles or pisanki. The study considers such problems as the provenance of these artifacts and their function and meaning. The article deals with the questions of the spread of Christianity on the territory of the Old Russian Polack Land (Principality of Polotsk) based on materials from the funerary sites. Problematic Issues and Prospects for Studying Children’s Grave Goods of Ancient Rus (In the Context of Synchronous European Burial Grounds)
This paper discusses topical issues and identifies areas of potential future research in the study of children’s grave goods in the Rus period. Contentious topics include the presence, or absence of grave goods in children’s burials, and their significance in the identification social status, gender, and age of the buried individual.
