Open Access•Ayman Khafaga, AlShahad Adnan AlDereihim•ARTICLE•World Journal of English Language•2026

This study explores how passivization and negation function as ideological positioning markers of gendered ideology in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale (1985). • Requests as macro-speech act motivators in Qur’anic dialogues

    Open Access•Ayman Khafaga•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

The main objective of this paper is to test the hypothesis that imperatives, irrespective of their type, do not necessarily require a verbal or physical response, as is the case with their ordinary semantic fun…

This paper offers a psycho-pragmatic analysis of impoliteness in Shakespeare’s King Lear at the intradiegetic level of communication. The paper’s main objective is to explore the extent to which impoliteness assessment is influenced by both the psychological traits of interlocutors motivated by their reality paradigms and the fictional participation of discourse participants, which targets a deeper understanding of the association between impolit…

The present study conducts a cognitive-semantic analysis of etymologically-related lexical pairs in the language of the Qur’an. Based on objective selection criteria, the lexical pair rīĥ (a singular form literally meaning wind) and riyāĥ (a plural form literally meaning winds) has been claimed to be representative of the final data set, which includes 20 lexical pairs. Building on the theoretical underpinnings of descriptive semantics and frame …
