We describe the impact of the Adolescent Health Project on sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing in Omaha, NE, during phase 1 (media campaigns) and phase 2 (free STI testing). To assess the impact of each phase on STI testing, we examined monthly data from January 2013 to April 2017 via interrupted time series analyses. Promoting Condom Use Through a Youth-Focused Community-Wide Free Condom Distribution Initiative
We describe the implementation of a youth-focused condom distribution initiative in Omaha, Nebraska, developed by the Women’s Fund of Omaha. During a 2.5-year period, initiative partners distributed nearly 1.4 million free condoms to community members via outreach events and 197 condom distribution boxes. The Women’s Fund of Omaha also implemented seven media campaigns encouraging condom use. The number of condoms distributed per month increased …
Neighbourhood exposure to point-of-sale price promotions for cigarettes is associated with financial stress among smokers
Exposure to POS cigarette price promotions is associated with financial stress. This finding, coupled with previous reports that smokers with financial stress are less likely to attempt to quit or succeed in quitting smoking, suggests that POS cigarette price promotions may act as an impediment to smoking cessation

It is better to be a fat ex-smoker than a thin smoker
This article concludes that, overall, mortality risk is smaller in overweight or obese ex-smokers than normal-weight smokers. Smoking cessation interventions can tailor messages that highlight the greater reduction in mortality associated with quitting, compared with potential weight gain
