Open Access•Katarzyna Adamczyk, Radosław Trepanowski et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Beliefs and Values•2026

Past research has suggested that religion plays an important role in single individuals’ functioning. However, little is known about the role of prayer in single adults’ mental health. Therefore, the present investigation examined whether adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication, and reception prayer concerning singlehood would moderate the changes in anxiety, depression, and emotional and psychological well-being of Polish single indivi…

Open Access•Dariusz Drążkowski, Radosław Trepanowski•ARTICLE•Journal of Religion and Health•2025

  • A preliminary examination of the associations between belief in God and in afterlife, death anxiety, and Covid-19 protective behaviours within a non-representative Polish community sample

    Dariusz Drążkowski, Radosław Trepanowski•ARTICLE•Mortality•2025•Referencias: 60

A common form of dealing with death anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic was to comply with protective behaviours. Researchers observed that religious people were less likely to comply with protective behaviours. At the same time, religious people usually felt lower death anxiety since they believed in an afterlife more strongly than non-religious people. We explored these complex mechanisms by examining the relationship between a declaration of …

  • Sexism in esports

Open Access•Radosław Trepanowski, Samuli Laato et al.•ARTICLE•Computers in Human Behavior•2024

While equality and inclusivity are promoted in the realm of video gaming, most gamer communities remain male-dominated, which may give rise to prejudices against female players and their skill among gamer and the general public. In this study, we conducted two experiments where we measured how participants evaluate players’ performance and agency attributions. We used two distinct experimental manipulations—one utilizing videos of players playing…

  • Can spiritual well-being help people be satisfied with singlehood? Exploring the temporal link between spiritual well-being and satisfaction with singlehood

Open Access•Katarzyna Adamczyk, Agnieszka E Łyś et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Spirituality in Mental…•2024

The current study examined the role of spiritual well-being at Time 1 (T1) in satisfaction with singlehood six months later in a sample of 335 Polish single adults aged 19–51 (M = 32.23, SD = 6.44). The analyses provided evidence of a suppression effect of spiritual well-being at Time 2 (T2) on the link between spiritual well-being T1 and satisfaction with singlehood T2. Lower changes in spiritual well-being over six months were related to higher…

    Open Access•Dariusz Drążkowski, Radosław Trepanowski•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2024

Limited knowledge exists regarding the factors influencing the perceptions of individuals who may have transmitted a contagious virus. This study examined the impact of vaccination status on evaluations of individuals suspected of being sources of infection. The vaccination status of three individuals—the study participant (observer), the potential source of infection (actor), and the infected person—was considered. A total of 395 participants we…

  • The Vaccine-Education Paradox in a Cross-Country Analysis

    Open Access•Radosław Trepanowski, Dariusz Drążkowski•ARTICLE•SAGE Open•2024

Research has shown a mixed relationship between education and vaccination rates. In the current analysis, we aimed to determine the relationship between educational level and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination rates. We performed a cross-country analysis on data from 133 countries. Correlation analyses showed that higher and better education was associated with higher COVID-19 vaccination rates. When we performed the regression analy…

    Open Access•Dariusz Drążkowski, Radosław Trepanowski et al.•ARTICLE•Sex Roles•2024•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 20

Recently imposed reproductive rights restrictions have triggered widespread pro-choice protests in countries like Poland and the U.S. This study, conducted online in Poland following the 22 October 2020 decision of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal to strengthen restrictions on legal access to abortion, investigated the motivations of 939 Poles (55% women) to participate in pro-choice protests. We examined how different aspects of gender collect…

    (1) Background: Kindness interventions assist individuals in the pursuit of greater well-being. However, little is known about whether these interventions can decrease materialism. The current study tested how kindness interventions decrease materialism and external aspirations. Furthermore, we tested whether these interventions influence impulsive shopping. (2) Method: We randomly assigned 122 females to a three-week intervention of practicing a…

  • Development of the Polish‐Language Relationship Disillusionment Scale and its validation

    Open Access•Niehui, Katarzyna Adamczyk et al.•ARTICLE•Personal Relationships•2021

In Poland, individuals enter marriages and relationships increasingly to derive personal fulfillment, creating high expectations that may elevate individuals' risk for romantic disillusionment (the perception that the relationship has not lived up to expectations and has deteriorated). Given these dynamics in Poland, a Polish‐language measure of disillusionment would open up new research opportunities. Three studies, therefore, examined psychomet…
