Middle Chalcolithic ochre in pottery production from the Jordan Valley
The issue of ochre and its connections with pottery during the Chalcolithic has not been thoroughly investigated. This article presents a pilot study of six ochre samples extracted from pottery shards found at the well-stratified site of Tel Tsaf, Jordan Valley, Israel. OBJECTIVE: To assess phenotypic variation of porous cranial lesions and their co-occurrence with infections of the upper respiratory apparatus and endocranial lesions, to infer disease burden in two different Neolithic socio-economic groups.
