  • Plasmodium falciparum resistance to sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine in Africa

Open Access•Floriano Amimo, Bernd Lambert et al.•ARTICLE•BMJ Global Health•2020

INTRODUCTION: resistance to sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP) across Africa, from 2000 to 2020. METHODS: We assembled molecular, clinical and endemicity data covering malaria-endemic African countries up to December 2018. Subsequently, we reconstructed georeferenced patient data, using pfdhps540E and pfdhps581G to measure mid-level and high-level SP resistance. Gaussian process regression was applied to model spatiotemporal standardised prevalence. …

  • On revolutions

    Open Access•Armand M Leroi, Bernd Lambert et al.•ARTICLE•Palgrave Communications•2020

Sometimes the normal course of events is disrupted by a particularly swift and profound change. Historians have often referred to such changes as “revolutions”, and, though they have identified many of them, they have rarely supported their claims with statistical evidence. Here, we present a method to identify revolutions based on a measure of multivariate rate of change called Foote novelty. We define revolutions as those periods of time when t…

    Open Access•Bernd Lambert•ARTICLE•American Anthropologist•1966•Citada por: 7•Referencias: 19

Most discussions of the extension of the concept of "descent" to nonunilineal groups have assumed that the latter permitted a far greater latitude in choosing affiliations than unilineal groups did. In the society of Butaritari and Makin, the northernmost of the Gilbert Islands, the membership of a corporate descent group (ramage) consists of all persons who can trace descent, through either men or women, to the founder of the group and persons w…
