Contemporary Ritual
This article examines the various interpretations of teyyam, a ritual of North Kerala, arguing that new meaning-making practices and fresh experiences of teyyam continue to reinvent the ritual even as it references tradition. This article returns to what was once an ethnographic staple in the sociology of India: the post-harvest grain heap.
