Pediatric paleoradiology
This paper aggregates and summarizes studies that use paleoradiology techniques in the analysis of pediatric remains. Building on these findings, we offer evidence-based, best-practice protocols for the use of radiographic techniques in the assessment of pediatric remains from archaeological contexts. Myositis ossificans traumatica with associated pseudarthroses in an adult from Late Bronze Age Athens, Greece
This case study documents an unusual heterotopic ossification with associated pseudarthroses of the lumbar spine. We examined the partial skeletal remains of an adult from a Late Bronze Age (Mycenaean Late Helladic IIB‐IIIA1 period, approximately1400–1375 BCE) chamber tomb from the Athenian Agora excavations in Greece. The “Rich Athenian Lady” Was Pregnant
Recent reexamination of the cremated remains in the celebrated tomb of the "rich Athenian lady" brought to light the presence of a fetus four to eight weeks short of full term and established that the adult female died during pregnancy or premature childbirth. Reconstructing the massacre at Fort William Henry, New York
Fort William Henry, in upstate New York, was the site of a legendary siege and massacre in 1757 during the French and Indian War. As part of the terms of surrender, the British garrison was to retreat with all their arms and possessions, thus denying the Indian allies of the French their spoils of war.
