  • Learning from Prices

    Manuel Amador, Pierre-Olivier Weill•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Economy•2010•Citada por: 3•Referencias: 1

We study the effect of releasing public information about productivity or monetary shocks using a micro-founded macroeconomic model in which agents learn from the distribution of nominal prices. While a public release has the direct beneficial effect of providing new information, it also has the indirect adverse effect of reducing the informational efficiency of the price system. • Absence of impact of aerial malathion treatment on Aedes aegypti during a dengue outbreak in Kingston, Jamaica

Open Access•Trevor Castle, Manuel Amador et al.•ARTICLE•Revista Panamericana de Salud…•1999

During an outbreak of dengue fever in Jamaica from October to December 1995, a study was carried out to determine the impact of aerial ultra-low volume malathion treatment on adult Aedes aegypti. This was done by monitoring oviposition rates of the vector in three urban communities in Kingston and by exposing caged mosquitoes both directly and indirectly to the aerial malathion treatment. The insecticide was delivered at a rate of 219 mL/ha betwe…

  • Relationship between frame size and fatness in children and adolescents

Open Access•Emilio Martinez, Emilio G Martínez et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•1995

In order to evaluate variation in body fatness by category of frame size (small, medium, and large) during growth, a sample of 7,286 Cuban children and adolescents (3,721 males, 3,565 females) 5–20 years was surveyed. Fatness was estimated from skinfold thicknesses at four sites: subscapular, triceps, suprailiac, and posterior calf. Elbow breadth was used as an estimate of frame size. Generally, the larger the frame size, the greater the amount o…
