This study attempted to measure the extent to which women who are college students had been forced to have sexual intercourse during their lives. Fifteen percent of this sample reported that they had been forced to have sex, ten percent by their dates, and eight percent while they were college students. This study indicates that almost all unwanted sexual encounters occur in apartments or cars, are committed by men with whom the women have at least casual relationships, and is preceded by behavior which causes sexual arousal
