Research Article| October 01 2017 Avant-garde Donna: Donna R. Gabaccia and the Field of Migration Studies Nancy L. Green Nancy L. Green Nancy L. Green is Professor (directrice d’études) of History at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. She received her doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1980 and a doctorat d’état from the Université de Paris VII in 1996. A specialist in migration history, comparative methods, and French and American social history, she has most recently published The Other Americans in Paris: Businessmen, Countesses, Wayward Youth, 1880–1941 (University of Chicago Press, 2014) and A Century of Transnationalism: Immigrants and their Homeland Connections, co-edited with Roger Waldinger (University of Illinois Press, 2016).
