THIS ARTICLE IS A FEMINIST COMPARATIVE THEORETICAL STUDY between Asian American/Asian diasporic cultural criticism and postcolonial theory on the missions, roles, functions and constituencies of women intellectuals. It compares and connects the texts and thoughts of selected contemporary women intellectuals, such as Elaine Kim, Lisa Lowe, Shirley Geok-lin Lim, Sau-ling Wong, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Chandra Talpade Mohanty, Rey Chow and Trinh T. Minh-ha, in the fields of Asian American Studies and postcolonial studies. They have inaugurated, defined, shaped and re-directed the intellectual history of Asian America, the interdisciplinary history of Asian American Studies, and the feminist history [End Page 139] of theorizing Asian American women and Asian American women theorizing
