Bedside teaching is an essential component of medical education and provides the learners an opportunity to use nearly all of their senses. A comprehensive physical examination can provide a diagnosis of more than 70% of diseases.1 Sometimes it is thought that bedside teaching is applicable only to the hospital setting which is not true. Bedside teaching skills can apply to any situation where the teaching occurs in the presence of the patient, including the secondary care hospital, the long-term care facility or in the office setting.2
