Many aspects of modern society are developing through the active use of advanced technologies and innovations, and education is no exception. The contemporary educational process increasingly relies on innovative approaches, particularly those associated with digitalization. As a result, modern higher education requires the introduction of teaching methods aimed at developing students’ professional competencies and creative potential.For a long time, music education was dominated by traditional teaching methods based on a reproductive approach. However, the modern educational paradigm calls for the active implementation of innovative educational technologies. Addressing this methodological shift has become an urgent task for pedagogical science, as it reflects the need to adapt music education to current social and technological conditions. The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate contemporary approaches to the application of innovative methods in teaching music in higher education institutions. The research methods are determined by the objectives of the study and the specifics of the educational process in higher music education. General scientific methods such as analysis and synthesis, typology, and systematization are employed, alongside art-historical and pedagogical methods, including the analysis of philosophical, pedagogical, and art-historical literature. The study is based on modern psychological and pedagogical concepts and the principles of humane pedagogy. The results of the research demonstrate that innovative teaching technologies are essential for the development of music education, as they enhance student motivation, stimulate interest in learning, and foster creative potential. At the same time, innovative approaches cannot replace traditional methods that ensure the formation of stable performance skills. Therefore, the rational combination of innovative and traditional teaching methods remains a key didactic challenge in contemporary music pedagogy
