The Potent Permissions of Role-Modeling

Therapists are frequently unaware of the opportunity to serve as role models for clients, how doing so may increase their potency, and the implicit permissions it gives. The purpose of this article is to stimulate greater awareness of this privilege/responsibility through reviewing theoretical bases for the therapist's modeling and describing its role in a case example. The conscious use of this potential power and the accompanying hazards are discussed
