Autocratic power relationships are discussed from a dyadic perspective, and aspects of symbiotic interaction are extended to include a social-psychological view. An historical perspective and present-day examples are analyzed in transactional terms. Questions are raised about the social medium that allows autocratic development. Types (Master, Follower, Bystander) and Roles (Slaves, Object of Evil, Resister) are delineated
