The Evolution of Developmental Psychology

Three different handbooks from child psychology, whose publication dates span 40 years, and BIRREN’s [1959] handbook on the psychology of aging were subjected to quantitative and qualitative comparative analyses. The assumption underlying these analyses was that the differences existing among the compendia are reflective of the changes that have occurred throughout the evolutionary course of developmental psychology
