Lat. ploxenum and plaustrum reconsidered

This paper argues that the traditional Celtic etymology of Latin ploxenum 'a carriage-body' cannot be upheld since there is no evidence for a Celtic origin.Instead, it can both formally and semantically regularly be derived from the PIE root *pleu k-'schweben'.This derivation finds support in the rarely assumed connection with Latin plaustrum 'a wagon or cart' that can, again, be regularly derived from the same root, while its traditional derivation is semantically inferior
