Sleep as an important physiological function plays a key role in maintaining health. The aim of this study was investigating the effects of a virtual sleep hygiene training package on sleep quality, daily sleepiness and cognitive performance of older adult members of the Gorgan Retired Center in 2022. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group and repeated measures was employed. Ninety participants were allocated to an intervention group (n = 45) or a wait-list control group (n = 45). The intervention group received a 4-week sleep hygiene education program delivered via WhatsApp. Outcomes were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and at a one-month follow-up. Data were analyzed using Repeated-Measures ANOVA. At baseline, no significant differences were observed between the groups (p > .05). A significant Time × Group interaction was found for PSQI (F(1.74, 153.12) = 185.4, p < .001, η2 = 0.678), ESS (F(2, 176) = 92.1, p < .001, η2 = 0.511), and MMSE scores (F(2, 176) = 49.8, p < .001, η2 = 0.361). Post-hoc tests confirmed significant improvements in the intervention group across all measures (p < .001), which were sustained at follow-up. The control group showed no significant changes. The virtual training package designed for sleep hygiene increased the sleep quality, reduced daytime sleepiness, and improved cognitive performance. Considering the importance of proper sleep in maintaining health during old age, the use of this package by health service providers to enhance sleep quality is recommended
