Game On! Promoting Holistic Student Development in Sport Education Using a Hybrid Model Approach

Model-based approaches are a well-established, important, and evolving part of the physical education landscape. As such, scholars posit that model-based approaches represent a legitimate path for the physical education (PE) profession in promoting the development of the whole child, especially when using sport-oriented, game-based content. Researchers and practitioners alike share a professional responsibility to advance model-based approaches in PE. Accordingly, this article describes an innovative, standards-based hybrid approach to gameplay, one that aspires to promote the holistic development of each student by systematically combining the Sport Education, Tactical Games, and Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility models
