Background. The article is devoted to the study of French-language media discourse of the occupation of Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression in 2022–2025, focusing on framing mechanisms and their impact on the formation of public opinion. The analysis covers publications in such outlets as Le Monde, Franceinfo, L'Express, and France 24, which cover the Russian-Ukrainian war. Methods. The study is based on a comprehensive approach that includes discourse analysis and frame analysis, which reveals how the leading French-language media construct narratives about the occupation. Results. Four key frames have been identified: "Russian aggression", which emphasises invasion and annexation as acts of violence; "Disinformation and information warfare", which focuses on propaganda narratives and censorship; "Ukrainian resistance", which glorifies military, cultural, and media forms of resistance; and "War crimes and humanitarian impact", which focuses on violations of international law, torture, and forced assimilation. These frames, constructed through a combination of linguistic means, verbalize the "us/them" opposition, influencing the audience's perception of the occupation processes. Multimodal strategies, such as images of destruction, civilian suffering, and resistance network activities, reinforce narratives of traumatisation and heroisation, mobilising international solidarity. The study highlights the connection between media discourse and anti-colonial narratives that oppose imperialist ideologies, contributing to the ideological basis for the reintegration of occupied territories. Linguistic devices, including metaphors (cauchemar de l'occupation, océan d'impunité), neologisms and specific vocabulary (passeportisation, filtration), play a key role in legitimising or condemning the occupation. Conclusions. A comprehensive multimodal approach not only reveals hidden ideological attitudes, but also promotes balanced media representation aimed at countering disinformation and supporting a just resolution of the conflict
