The article aims to analyze the trajectory of singer and songwriter Mano Brown, leader of the group Racionais MC’s, examining his artistic work and arguing that he should be recognized as a Black social thinker who articulates and portrays the conflicts, vulnerabilities, and aspirations of Brazil’s urban peripheries. Methodologically, we draw on various bibliographic sources and examine some of his lyrics to present a portion of his body of work. By connecting biography, social structure, and history with the symbolic production expressed in his music, the text argues that Brown contributes to the appreciation of the cultural expressions of Black and marginalized communities
