The man in the Armed Forces tends to idealize the things he has left behind him in civilian life. In returning to such a scheme of life, however, he is apt to idealize certain aspects of his life as a soldier or sailor. The idealization of the absent aids one in setting up a standard of the optimum of life-conditions
