Rather than offering a simplistic determinism or an oversimplified reductionism, the sociological approach elaborated on here may lead to a much needed unifying and parsimonious system that will further our understanding of human behavior and make it more coherent and comprehensive. A synthesis of the views of George Homans with a sociobiological framework derived from the work of Charles Lumsden, Edward Wilson and John and Janice Baldwin allows us to see connections between several seemingly unrelated sociological topics and may help unite a fractured sociology
