Hegel on Responsibility for Actions and Consequences

Hegel’s theory of imputability in the Philosophy of Right is an often overlooked source of insights into such matters as human agency, moral and legal accountability, intention, taking responsibility for the consequences of actions, and issues of “double effect” and “moral luck.” Here Hegel’s account is compared with Kant, and it is argued that Hegel does a better job of treating imputability.
