This issue of Anthropology of Food is dedicated to Annie Hubert (1941-2010), a nutritional anthropologist who pioneered an anthropological and multidisciplinary approach in the study of nasopharyngeal cancer in France and helped to create a sociocultural epidemiology of the links between diet and cancer. Her work, her personality and her life have inspired the three of us in our commitment to this theme and in our efforts to publish this issue. Our thoughts are with her as we write this intro
