Abordaje tafonómico del registro bioarqueológico de cazadores-recolectores de Pampa y Patagonia

The aim of this paper is to present a synthesis and discussion of taphonomic antecedents that support a proposal for a taphonomic approach to human skeletal remains in archaeological contexts of hunter-gatherers from the Pampa and Patagonia. The application of this methodological proposal will generate useful information for assessing the state of preservation of the bioarchaeological record in different environments, for building models of its taphonomic history at different spatial scales, and for recognising variability in terms of anthropic behavior in human burial assemblages. The proposed variables are discussed in relation to the general objectives of a taphonomic study of the bioarchaeological record, which ultimately aim to contribute to the understanding of mortuary and cultural practices, biological and demographic characteristics, and various aspects of the dynamics of past societies. Necessary methodological adjustments are made in the taphonomic approach to human skeletal remains, given their specificity. For this purpose, the criteria to be recorded are adapted, taking into account that the taphonomic methodology originates from zooarchaeology and has different objectives for archaeological interpretation. This contribution is intended to serve as a basis for systematic taphonomic studies of the bioarchaeological record, incorporating relevant information on the specific natural agents of the regions studied
