In this essay, I present reflections derived from a portion of the field research I conducted in Portugal during the Bepe/Fapesp collaboration with activists and immigrant organizations, such as the Casa do Brasil de Lisboa. This work unfolded amidst both the growth of the extreme right and anti-immigration discourse and the intensification of migratory flows, particularly of Brazilians in the country. With the intention of addressing this theme, I explore my trajectory of connection with the field, detailing my journey in Portugal through interviews and participant observation of the activities and routines of the Casa do Brasil de Lisboa. In this way, I present elements that underscore the resistance of Brazilian immigrants in the face of the fortification of these discourses and the social tensions resulting from intolerance, xenophobia, and racism, phenomena that gain momentum as parties like Chega assume political prominence in the country
