The first part of this paper contains all the isoglosses of innovations shared by all the Central Dravidian languages which substantiate their grouping as a major subgroup within the Dravidian family. The innovations that are shared exclusively by the Telugu-Kui group of languages are presented in the second part. On the basis of this evidence it is suggested that Telugu first split off from this group. After that the rest of the languages of this group remained undivided for some time and during this period they as a group further underwent some more changes not shared by Telugu. New and satisfactory explanations are given for the development of personal pronouns in the Telugu-Kui subgroup (?13) and of the Telugu imperative second person plural marker (?17)
