A review of the sentence in a case of abortion of a pregnancy resulting from rape earlier this year led to a split of opinion on the Constitutional Court of Colombia. This paper summarises the majority and minority opinions. It argues that it is no longer only women committed to sexual and reproductive rights who are speaking out in favour of the decriminalisation of abortion, under specific conditions such as rape. Three high courtjudges have opened new levels of debate and motivated the media and public opinion in Colombia to participate in this debate. Their views, even if they are still a minority opinion on the Court, clearly show that theyare aware of women's needs and rights
