This paper examines the potential of personal dispositions as predictive and explanatory variables in the analysis of human spatial behavior. Personal dispositions are environment-related personality traits underlying attitudes and behavior in the everyday physical environment. Previous research has focused on general environmental dispositions. Dispositions of narrower range can be identified and measured when investigating the personal characteristics underlying spatial choices. The results of a study of retail choice in Vancouver are discussed to illustrate the application of a dispositional approach. In conclusion, other possible applications of this approach to the analysis of spatial behavior are suggested
