In the study that follows, I am going to make some detailed comments on the syntax of the opening statements of the second article of the Creed of Nicaea (henceforward: N). It may therefore be convenient to begin with a quote of the relevant part of the creed. In the text which follows, capitals are used for those clauses which-by universal consent-represent the anti-Arian insertions into an otherwise typically Eastern baptismal creed
