Over the last hundred years, the Navajo economy has changed from one based on animal husbandry, agriculture, arts and crafts to one in which the most significant returns derive from wage labor, welfare and Social Security. With the addition of these new sources, the contributions of women, men, and children in the economic sphere have changed substantially.
