Based on Comparative Literature, Literary Criticism, and other Human Sciences, such as Anthropology and Sociology, the present research aims to investigate procedures used to construct possible dialogues between verbal and visual texts as present in Brazilian children's and youth literature. The analysis and historical and cultural contextualization of this type of literature seeks, in terms of mythical components underlying these works, to reveal nuances of imaginaries historically produced in and by the culture of the Brazilian people. We assume that the present study is important in that it establishes a critical reflection on the role of children's and youth literature books as a cultural product capable of put into dialogue two arts in a same support: the erudite (literary) and popular arts (sculptures, paintings, montages, embroidery, assemblages, etc.).To this end, the corpora considered here include artistic products made by the Berlendis & Vertecchia Editores aimed at children and young people and containing narratives created from dialogues between writers and other forms of art
