Illustration de la persitance de la culture Urewe a partir du 1° millenaire av. J.-C. jusqu'apres la fin du 1° millenaire de notre ere. Toutefois cette occupation semble ne pas avoir ete continue. Les premiers indices (ceramique et residus du travail du fer) apparaissent au alentour de 1000 av. J.-C. au Rwanda, au Burundi, au Buhaya en Tanzanie. Les plus anciens fourneaux de fonte preserves datent du milieu du millenaire avantr notre ere. De la ceramique Urewe a ete enregistree au derniers siecles avant J.-C. Les premiers siecles de notre ere representent la plus grande expansion et installation intensive. A partir du 7° siecle apr J.-C., les vestiges de fonte se font a nouveau rares
