The Brazilian socialist and communist left was for historical reasons divided into 12 parties of factions, spanning the left ideological spectrum. This field research utilized a Q-Method protocol of 54 statements administered to 43 prominent members of the 12 parties to ascertain the deep structure of opinion underlying surface organizational diversity
