Geographical planning of international migration

The International Co-ordination Committee for European Migratory Movements has recently made an inquiry into the extent to which agricultural emigrants from particular regions of Italy successfully adapt themselves to conditions in different parts of France. The intimate relation of productivity to personal adjustment of the immigrant to his new surroundings is recognized. Factors found to be important include climate, type of crop, species of draught animal, diet, language and standard of living. The technical rather than the juridical aspect of the agricultural holding is emphasized. The problem of international regional concordances is a complex one, but the results of study of a particular aspect, such as the conditions of agricultural labour, promise to be of considerable value both in the administration of international migration and in the raising of agricultural productivity
