Facial reconstructions from crania are common in the context of forensic identification and their ability in documenting soft tissue morphology is well documented. The extension of this procedure to archaeological populations has been limited, at best, even though additional information concerning earlier native Americans and other populations could be derived from studies of this nature. This study describes the osteology of three Archaic-period crania excavated from the Lower Pecos region of Texas and the technique used to reconstruct their soft tissue morphology. Further reconstructions of crania representing other archaeological populations will ultimately lead to a better understanding of the physical characteristics of earlier humans
