A Preliminary Note on the Brook Reaction Test

An experiment is described on the assessment of interests. The underlying hypothesis is that people's individual interests will be revealed by their responses to an ambiguous word‐association test. The stimulus words chosen had two or more meanings, of which at least one related to a specific interest. Each of the thirty subjects was interviewed immediately after taking the test and was rated on nine predetermined interests, using a 4‐point scale. Significant correlations between the two criteria were obtained for seven of the nine interests
