LATIN America, like most other parts of the world, has passed through different phases in economic development. In recent years there probably have been more rapid changes and adjustments in several parts of Latin America than have occurred in many previous decades. In other portions of the area there has been but little change for many years. Perhaps a brief resume of economic development in Latin America in successive periods will help in a presentation of current activities
