Alexandru Balasescu is fashion commentator at Realitatea TV, a news channel in Romania, and has a PhD degree in anthropology (2004) from the University of California, Irvine. His thesis focuses on the symbolic and material links between the fashion industry in Paris and Tehran. He has published in academic journals such as the Journal of Material Culture, Fashion Theory, and Gender and History, as well as in the popular magazines Zoo and Idea.
