A Micro-simulation Model of a Spatial Labor Market
We present a model that deals with continuous space and functional regions in the form of overlapping, interacting, and constantly changing contact fields associated with the individual actors in a labor market. Simulations illustrate the results of the model, presenting individual histories of firms and workers. An interregional migration model based on vacancy chains, on an intervening-opportunities interaction hypothesis, and incorporating endogenously generated imperfect information flows is developed. General, modified penalty-function methods of nonlinear programming are developed and then adapted for application to the simplest of the three migration models. Controlling Interregional Migration Processes of a Markovian Type
A framework is suggested within which normative modelling strategies can be used to make simple dynamic migration models more relevant to policymakers. A job-vacancy model is explicitly linked to a migration- and population-distribution model. Some suggestions are made about the ways in which the models could be modified in order to make them more realistic. Other areas of application are also briefly indicated

This study is an attempt to describe and analyze, using simple methods of linear regression, the dynamic process whereby the highway network of a region has been transformed from a predominantly gravel and earth road system to an extensive network of hard surfaced roads. The highway data are derived from Ontario Department of Highways road maps from 1925 to 1971. Observation of the set of maps shows a striking pattern in the growth of the improve…

As an example, the inter-urban multi-lane highway network of Southern Ontario and Quebec is studied.
