The recalled childhood gender questionnaire‐revised
We administered the 18-item Recalled Childhood Gender Questionnaire-Revised (RCGQ-R), female version, to 147 adult women with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) representing three different degrees of prenatal androgenization due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency and to non-CAH controls. Sexual and substance use acts of gay and bisexual male adolescents in New York city
Lifetime and current sexual and substance use behaviors were examined among 131 predominantly Hispanic and Black gay and bisexual adolescent males in New York City. Sexual self control as a mediator of high risk sexual behavior in a New York city cohort of HIV+ and HIV‐ gay men
This paper describes the development of the Perceived Sexual Control inventory (PSC) and a study investigating the relationship between an individual's perception of control over sexual behavior and actual sexual risk behavior in a New York City cohort of 108 HIV+ and 48 HIV‐ gay men. Correlational analysis indicated that reported difficulty controlling sexual behavior was associated with having more male sex partners and sex occasions over lifet…
Lifetime sexual behaviors among runaway males and females
Lifetime sexual behaviors were examined among 206 male and female runaway adolescents aged 11–18 in New York City who were predominantly Black or Hispanic. Most youths experienced oral, anal or vaginal sex with opposite‐sex partners (84%), began to engage in these heterosexual activities at a relatively young age (M = 12.9 years), and used condoms inconsistently or not at all (56%). Among sexually active youths, males initiated heterosexual activ…
Sexual risk behavior, sexual functioning, and HIV‐disease progression in gay men
In a sample of 121 HIV‐positive (HIV+) and 84 HIV‐negative (HIV‐) gay and bisexual men in the New York City area, sexual behavior and functioning were assessed by interview and correlated with symptoms and signs of HIV‐disease progression. There was considerable variability in sexual partner numbers and behaviors, and a substantial proportion of men in both groups engaged in sexual practices that put themselves or their partners at risk for HIV i…

Despite their presumed high risk for AIDS, there are almost no sexual behavior data available which are sufficient for the development and assessment of intervention programs for male prostitutes. This study was designed to obtain such data. Fifty 14–27‐year‐old male prostitutes in Manhattan were interviewed using structured instruments to assess sexual orientation, sexual behavior, knowledge of AIDS, and substance abuse. The sample was 50% homos…
