  • Credibility Signals from Soft Information: Evidence from Investor Reactions to Tone in Earnings Conference Calls

Open Access•Jan C Hennig, Sebastian Firk et al.•ARTICLE•European Accounting Review•2025

Research assigns significant share price relevance to linguistic tone in earnings conference calls. Tone is, however, only one facet in the mosaic of the soft information that is disseminated in the interactive conference call setting. We argue that investors exploit further aspects of this soft information to simultaneously assess the tone’s credibility. Drawing on the communication literature, we focus on the role of perceived sender and messag…

  • Kant über das Recht des Privatgebrauchs des Erdbodens: Zugleich eine Beantwortung der Frage, warum § 16 der Metaphysischen Anfangsgründe der Rechtslehre der richtige Ort für die fünf falsch gesetzten …

    Michael Wolff•ARTICLE•Kant-Studien•2020

As is well known, § 6 of Kant’s Metaphysical First Principles of the Doctrine of Right contains five paragraphs that do not belong there. The article shows that their correct location is at the end of § 16. This sheds some new light on Kant’s theory of property and its significance for Kant’s doctrine of cosmopolitan right

  • Hegel's Organicist Theory of the State: On the Concept and Method of Hegel's “Science of the State”

    Open Access•Michael Wolff•CHAPTER•Hegel on Ethics and Politics•2004

Hegel's “organicist” theory of the state is usually, and surely rightly, regarded as the expression of a specific political outlook on his part. But this understanding of Hegel's theory all too easily can lead us to overlook the theoretical insights that originally motivated the organicist approach and the theoretical insights that this approach itself may have made possible. One should at least attempt to determine the theoretical value, from He…

    Open Access•Michael Wolff•ARTICLE•Science in Context•1987

The Argument One of the earliest arguments for Copernicanism was a widely accepted fact: that on a horizontal plane a body subject to no external resistance can be set in motion by the smallest of all possible forces. This fact was contrary to Aristotelian physics; but it was a physical argument (by abduction) for the possibility of the Copernican world system. For it would be explained if that system was true or at least possible. Galileo argued…
