Correlations between Beck Depression Scores and Physical Complaints
The relationship between physical complaint and depression is explored for 29 male and 27 female students, normal subjects, from a middle to upper-middle socioeconomic class. Results bear out the clinically reported and theoretically hypothesized relationship between these two variables
Systematic Desensitization as a Component for Treatment of Alopecia Areata
Systematic desensitization and relaxation were employed to examine their effects on hair growth in a 20-yr.-old male with a 4-yr. history of alopecia areata. Six bald scalp patches were photographed over 6 mo.; 2 ordered hierarchies involving interpersonal and compulsive themes were presented in 8 treatment sessions. Data are presented on relation of age to days hospitalized, socio-economic status, status to psychiatric diagnosis, psychiatric diagnosis to prior hospitalization, and percentage of community referrals.
