Destination Development Through Sport Event Tourism (SET) in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
The primary objectives of this study are fourfold. First, it aims to review the existing body of literature related to both tourism studies and the Korean DMZ, in order to establish a foundational understanding of current academic discourse. Second, the study seeks to identify critical factors that influence destination development through sport events and related forms of tourism, particularly within politically sensitive regions like the DMZ. T…
Bleisure tourism experience chain
With the blurring of the boundaries between business and leisure tourism, Bleisure tourism has recently become popular. This study develops a Bleisure tourism experience chain and examines how Bleisure marketing practices are created to encourage business travelers to have better experiences and spend more money, beyond business events. To this end, a case study was conducted in Japan's capital region. The results showed that local convention bur…

Desired recreation companionship and travel behaviour of people with disabilities
This study examines whether people with disabilities(PWD) participate in leisure and travel activities with their desired companions and if there are discrepancies between their social networks and real recreation companions. The recreation companionship and travel behaviour of PWD have not been thoroughly explored, particularly in non-Western contexts. Accordingly, data were collected from 494 respondents in South Korea, and findings suggest tha…
Intra-Asian performing arts tourism – the motivations, intentions, and performance preferences of Japanese visitors
To provide an enhanced understanding of performing arts tourism in the Asian context, the present study investigates the motivations, intentions and performance preferences of a particular source market – Japan. Five primary motivations identified for this group when travelling to Korea to watch a theatre-based performance were: to relieve stress, to learn about Korean culture, to socialise, to enhance their life satisfaction, and curiosity. The …
The impact of country and destination images on destination loyalty
This study examined the impact of a stereotypical image of a country and the image of a tourism destination on destination loyalty. In particular, this study compared these impacts between two groups of destinations – long- and short-haul international destinations – from the perspective of construal-level theory. Data were collected from 500 Taiwanese tourists in 2014 and analyzed through multiple steps, including MANOVA, ANOVA, CFA, and SEM wit…
The role of perceived behavioural control in the constraint-negotiation process
This study extends the leisure constraint-effects-mitigation model to the perceived behavioural control (PBC)- constraint-negotiation model by adding PBC. Three competing models were tested to determine which model best fits the data. Results suggested that PBC mediates the relationship between motivation and negotiation, and there is a direct path from motivation to participation. Findings contribute to deepening and broadening the theory of lei…
Structural Relationships among Health Benefits, Price Comparison, and Price Fairness
This study was to identify the crucial role of health benefits and price fairness in an environmentally friendly restaurant context and to examine relationships among health benefits, price comparison, and price fairness. Valid responses were collected from 421 visitors to an environmentally friendly restaurant. Results showed that the hypothesized model fits the data well but revealed no moderating effect of belief in health benefits on percepti…
Effects of Environmentally Friendly Perceptions on Customers' Intentions to Visit Environmentally Friendly Restaurants
This study examines the relationships among antecedents of attitude (AT) toward environmentally conscious behavior (perceived consumer effectiveness and environmental concerns (ECs) and the theory of planned behavior in order to identify the behavioral intentions (BIs) of consumers and explain the formation of an intention to visit an environmentally friendly restaurant. Four hundred self-administered questionnaires were distributed, from which 3…
An Analysis of Adopting Dual Pricing for Museums
Measuring Attribute-Specific and Overall Satisfaction with Destination Experience
Researchers have measured tourist satisfaction at both overall (global) and attribute levels, and found that attribute-specific satisfaction significantly influences overall satisfaction. When satisfaction is operationalized at two levels, the measurement structure presents "specific-general" questions, which may yield psychological effects due to the ordering of questions. This study examined question order effects when measuring attribute and o…
