  • Bordering the Future

    John A Adams•BOOK•Bordering the Future•2006

The differences between the United States and Mexico may be immense, but their links—economic, political, and social—are profound, and growing stronger. In this incisive narrative, John Adams argues that Mexico, with which the United States shares a 1,951 mile border, is no sideshow but a pivotal component of American economic health and regional security. The primary theme that runs throughout this book is that Mexico has historically had, and w…

    Ted Lewellen, Ted C Lewellen et al.•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•1981•Cited by: 5•References: 2

In a Stirling-award winning article, Ralph Bolton offered a psychophysiological explanation for the notorious levels of aggression among the "Qolla" (Quechua and Aymara) Indians of the Peruvian altiplano. The long-standing anthropological characterization of these peasants as pathologically aggressive was supported by Bolton's finding that the community of Incawatana had one of the highest murder rates on record. He hypothesized that mild hypogly…

  • Research and the future of engineering psychology

    John A Adams, Jack A Adams•ARTICLE•American Psychologist•1972•Cited by: 1

The vigor of engineering psychology as an applied discipline in engineering and psychology is dependent upon the robustness of the scientific knowledge that it applies to the design of man-machine systems. As a field, engineering psychology mostly has its practitioners applying knowledge and comparatively few generating new knowledge, with the result that the capability for system innovation is not as strong as it should be. • Mediation and Forgetting

    Open Access•John A Adams, Jack A Adams•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1964

An experiment was performed to test the hypothesis that the presence of mediation can reduce verbal forgetting. During original learning experimental groups acquired two classes of multiple mediators that intervened between the stimulus and response members of a paired-associate list (A-C). An AB-BC-AC paradigm was used for experimental groups. Control groups did not have the mediators and simply learned the A-C list. All groups recalled the A-C …
