Overconfidence and Endogenous Contract Incompleteness
We set up a model on the hold-up problem with uncertain bargaining power and find that, when two agents are overconfident about their bargaining power ex ante, both of them may endogenously choose incomplete contract over complete contract even when complete contracting is feasible. The intuition behind the result is that ceteris paribus, overconfidence leads to a higher expected return to relationspecific investment and a higher investment level…
Trade liberalisation and trade and capital flows: Evidence from China pilot free trade zones
China established several Pilot Free Trade Zones (PFTZs) in recent years as a major step to deepen trade liberalisation. In this paper, we investigate the impact of free trade zones (FTZs) on the economy's capital flow, imports and exports, as well as the underlying mechanisms. We consider the newly established FTZs as a natural experiment and construct a difference‐in‐difference (DID) model with the staggered establishment dates of the FTZs. Our…

Social Norm and Giving with Indivisibility of Money: An Experiment on Selfishness, Equity, and Generosity
We study a dictator game considering selfishness, equity, and generosity. The dictators first indicate their willingness to give on a decision form and then allocate 10 yuan cash to the receiver in an envelope. The cash consists of 10 banknotes of1 yuan in treatment 1 (high divisibility) and 2 banknotes of 5 yuan in treatment 2(low divisibility). Treatment 2 only has three choices of giving .0;5;10/.30%of individuals take ceilings or floors rathe…
Bubble Formation and (In)Efficient Markets in Learning‐to‐Forecast and optimise Experiments
This experiment compares the price dynamics and bubble formation in an asset market with a price adjustment rule in three treatments where subjects: (1) submit a price forecast only; (2) choose quantity to buy/sell and (3) perform both tasks. We find deviation of the market price from the fundamental price in all treatments, but to a larger degree in treatments (2) and (3). Mispricing is therefore a robust finding in markets with positive expecta…
